FACILITADOR/FACILITATOR

Necesitamos un Facilitador que se desempañará principalmente por implementar actividades didácticas en los Espacios de aprendizaje con un enfoque en el Plan de Estudios Nacional del nivel de Primaria o en el Plan de estudios global de Dawere de secundaria, haciendo uso de una enseñanza presencial y en línea. Este cargo también servirá de enfoque principal para garantizar un buen funcionamiento de un Espacio de Aprendizaje asignado y asegurar el contenido educacional apropiado sea creado y subido a la plataforma en línea.

Job Description: We are currently seeking to fill the position of Facilitator (bilingual) at Living Water Community (Ministry for Migrants and Refugees)

AGENCY DESCRIPTION:

Treating people with dignity, respect and safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of the most vulnerable are key principles to working with LWC.

LWC is a Catholic Lay Ecclesial Community that works mainly with refugees, asylum-seekers, and vulnerable migrants from many countries and of various regions, including from Colombia, Venezuela, Haiti, Cuba, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Bangladesh, Syria, Nigeria, Sudan and many more. Due to an increasing number of asylum seekers and refugees, our team needs additional capacity to maintain its humanitarian protection standards and devise appropriate responses. 

Some specific tasks are given below: 

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver instruction to children in physical/virtual classroom settings with the objectives of reinforcing learning concepts and ensuring that learners are advancing in the various subject areas, and through different levels of English as a Second Language 

Monitor the Learning Space(s) and ensure implementation and compliance with the Learning Space Standard Operating Procedures, the Child Safeguarding Policy, LWC’s core values and code of conduct, as well as all LWC’s internal policies and procedures.

Conduct a daily visual/virtual assessment of the children and ensure that they feel comfortable, safe, respected, and are provided with appropriate psychosocial support, and/or a referral to alternative support services, if needed.

Assist in the requisition and distribution of teaching materials such as photocopies, workbooks, papers, and writing utensils to students.

Maintain all documentation pertinent to the class and ensure that it is filed/stored for easy retrieval.  This documentation includes, but is not limited to, the daily attendance register, each week’s lesson plan, administered assessments and  grades, as well as registration, evaluation, and consent forms. Instruct and monitor students in the safe use and care of equipment, materials, and online platforms in order to prevent injuries, damage, and/or security breaches.

Ensure children’s participation and input in designing activities and ensure their access to a variety of structured games and activities that cater to the different needs, ages, genders, learning styles, and abilities of children. Be a positive role model and demonstrate appropriate conflict-solving behaviours and positive behaviour management techniques.

Engage parents and the community regularly to encourage their involvement and keep them abreast of any developments or challenges within the Learning Space/Virtual Classroom and surrounding areas, as well as students’ individual progress/challenges/performance.

Liaise with the Education Officer regularly to seek advice on challenges that may arise in the implementation of the Learning Spaces, recent developments, or to suggest new creative and inclusive activities.

Participate in debriefing meetings and capacity building workshops as required.

Design, upload, and update relevant educational content as needed, and ensure that displays and lessons incorporate the CLIL methodology and are tailored to varying age levels according to guidelines provided by the national curriculum of Trinidad & Tobago. 

Design, organise and supervise psychosocial (virtual/physical) and recreational activities to teach children positive behaviours and promote physical, mental, and social development.

Screen for and monitor protection needs and gaps within and surrounding the Learning Space/virtual classroom and its daily activities.  Follow the referral pathway for reporting child protection issues, in accordance with the Child Protection/Gender-Based Violence Case Management SOPs, where applicable.

ECD OFFICER- SPECIAL SERVICE/ El Oficial de Desarrollo de Primera Infancia- Servicios Especiales

El Oficial de Desarrollo de Primera Infancia- Servicios Especiales trabajará en conjunto con las familias de migrantes con niños nacidos en Trinidad y Tobago que aun no han podido obtener sus partidas de nacimiento para asistirles con ese proceso. El oficial trabajará de manera cercana con las familias migrantes para garantizar que estén equipados con la información y los recursos necesarios. Este oficial también ofrecerá sesiones educativas de Inglés como Segunda Lengua para niños migrantes de 3-4 años de edad que están matriculados en el Programa de Preparación para el colegio de MMR.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Special services ECD officer will be responsible for: 

Birth Registration 

● Provide virtual and in-person guidance to migrant families with children born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on the birth registration process. 

● Liaise with home country embassies or consulates to streamline and facilitate the processing of identification documents for migrant families. 

● Assist migrant families with gathering the necessary documents and financial support for birth registration.

● Organize information sessions, and support activities at community events targeted at raising awareness about birth registration, early childhood education, and school readiness.

● Accompany migrant families to the Ministry of Legal Affairs to provide language support throughout the birth registration process. 

Early Childhood Development Activities 

● Support CCD Officers with enhancing awareness among expecting and new parents about the importance of early childhood education and provide guidance on registering into the ECD programme. 

● School Preparedness (ESL) 

● Collaborate with Care for Child Development (CCD) Officers and the Early Childhood

● Development Officer (ECD) with developing a clear plan for integrating ESL sessions into the existing School Preparedness programme. 

● Provide virtual and in-person English as a Second Language (ESL) sessions to migrant children 3-4 years of age. 

● Support the ECD Unit with community outreach events. 

Monitoring 

● Maintain accurate records of birth registration assistance provided and ESL sessions conducted.

● Prepare regular reports on program outcomes, challenges, and success stories for internal and external stakeholders. 

Other 

● Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in related areas.
