Education for Children

Education for Children

With an increase in displacement, there has been an apparent need for education assistance. Through the temporary initiative, Equal Place, Living Water Community: Ministry for Migrants and Refugees, along with its partners, offers free education to children between the ages of 5 and 17. Education will be provided through two online platforms: Notesmaster and Dawere, which will allow children to gain accredited education through the Venezuelan or Caribbean syllabus.

Parents should register their children at www.equal-place.com and contact 342-6221 in order to access this initiative. Once this application is made, the parent or guardian may be required to undergo an interview to confirm their child’s level of education.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enroll my child to Equal-Place?

My child only speaks Spanish, will he/she be able to access this initiative?

Course content will be developed with your child’s needs in mind.

Do I have to pay for my child to access Equal Place?

No. Equal Place is free.

Does my child need to be registered with UNHCR or with the government to access Equal Place?

No. Your child does not be registered with UNHCR nor the government.

Will my child be able to attend public schools?

As of this moment, all foreign-born asylum seekers and refugees cannot attend public schools because of a lack of refugee legislation, as well as local immigration regulations that require foreign nationals to have a student permit in order to have access to education in Trinidad and Tobago. However, steps are being taken by Living Water Community and its partners to advocate for access to education for all children.
